Desktop

Oh! Another reason why I haven't been updating my blog but now back at it. As I mentioned, my laptop was dead, so I couldn't get Internet access for a number of days. Luckily, my Hong Kong friend, Victor, who's here for a degree, gave me his old desktop. It's a PIII 550Mhz. So now I have a desktop in my room. He's really my saviour.

He's damn rich, living in Thunderbird. When I went over his place to help him set up his wireless router and to get the desktop (Fri before Thanksgiving), I got to explore his apartment. His apartment is a double-storey apartment.

The 1st storey is a living room with a small space for kitchen. He has a big sofa, a large screen LCD TV, with DVD player and surround sound system. He has a P4 desktop, with LCD screen and wireless keyboard and mouse. At the same time, he has the latest Athlon 64 laptop. His laptop is even better than the desktop I have at home. Not forgetting his laser printer/scanner/fax machine.

On the 2nd storey, there's the toilet, with a bath tub. His bedroom (also on the 2nd storey) is huge. It has a built-in wardrobe, another TV, and a queen-sized bed! He lives all alone! One person in such a big apartment. Well... He pays CAN$800 a month for it...

It was on that day too that Louis (the Mexican guy again showed how terrible a guy he can be. He borrowed Victor's textbook and promised to return it by 8pm. But he was nowhere to be found. Later, he came online and we questioned where he was. He was actually drinking at some Japanese friend's place in Fairview. Once again, he was drinking OTHER people's alcohol. He never bought alcohol of his own. Cheapskate guy. He only came by to return Victor's book at 11:30pm. It was during that time when Victor was complaining about him that I learnt that he NEVER did his homework and just copied Victor's EVERYTIME. It's so vexing just to talk about him.

After a long time

It's been so long since my last post. I had been so busy recently, I hardly had time to update this blog. But now, finally my mid-terms are over. Hopefully I'll have more time to update this blog now.

Let's see... I think I should break the updating into parts. I don't want to finish updating at one sitting, or I'll probably have to spend hours updating! First, I finally bought a suit for myself. It's a teenager's size. Fits just nice. It even comes with a vest and pants. But somehow, the pants are too loose for me. Oh well. What's more important is that I finally got a suit that fits me. So hard to find one that's of my size in Singapore. Or rather, it's impossible. If I were to tailor-make, it'll probably cost about S$240. But here, I got the suit with the vest and pants at CAN$105.93, which is about S$150.

Stanley Park Vancouver Aquarium

Finally, a fun day after all the days of bad luck.

Went down to Stanley Park with Myung Sun. We actually didn't walk around Stanley Park much, but rather, we went down to the Vancouver Aquarium. The Vancouver Aquarium was so much nicer than the lousy Underwater World in Sentosa. They have tropical fishes, Amazon fishes, local fishes etc. They had a whole Amazon forest exhibit area. They had touch pools, to touch stuff like starfish, sea cucumber and what have you. They have so many different kinds of fish on display, it's more like a mini-zoo than an aquarium!

I think my two favourite exhibitions are the sea otters and the beluga whales. You often see sea otters lying on their backs in the water in cartoons and pictures? Well... I got to see that in real life! And it was so cute... Lying on its back floating in the water like it's just lazing around.

The Beluga Whales are very cute too. They actually look more like dolphins than whales, because they are white in colour. And they were trained for shows, much like the dolphin shows. They are actually artic whales, i.e. they live in the artic, thus the colour. And because they live in the artic, they had lots of blubber. Fats don't look good on humans, but the whales looked so cute with all their blubber!!! There's a certain lump on their heads they can move at will. During the show, they actually showed them moving that lump of blubber at will. So cute!!! Anyone want to view the live cam on the Beluga whales?

Essay Writing

I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but I
actually found that the 4 page limit set by the
instructor is too short for the review essay! I
thought usually people struggle to lengthen their
essays to meet the minimum requirement?

Well... I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. To write
a review essay focusing on at least 4 class readings
in only 4 pages? 4 class readings... If it was only 2
class readings, I might be able to squeeze it into 4
pages, but 4!!! Oh well...

Everything's going wrong

It's been a long time since I've last posted anything. Why? Simply because my laptop is down. Spoilt. Dead. So I don't have a laptop. I can only use the school computers. And when I use the school computers, it's usually for school work. Furthermore, I can only access the school computers when the libraries or computer labs are open. So it looks like I won't get to update my blog that often anymore.

How can anyone suffer such luck? My camera, my SD card, and now my laptop. What next? My bed shall collapse? I miss some exam? I know for sure I won't die though, because dying would be somewhat good luck instead. At least I won't need to suffer anymore. With my streak of bad luck, I'll be around to suffer some more.
